Exchange programme between ASEM (Beira and Vilankulos, Mozambique) and Projeto Axè (Salvador de Bahia, Brazil)

PROJETO AXE’ (Centro de Defensa e Protecao à Crianca e ao Adolescente) is a Brazilian association that has been working since 1990 for the recovery and social reintegration of street children in Salvador de Bahia through formative activities based on the “Pedagogy of desire” and “Art education” (dance, music, plastic arts, fashion).

ASEM (Association in favour of the children in Mozambique) is a solidarity organization founded back in 1991 in Maputo by Barbara Hofmann to help the children of Mozambique, a country devastated by many years of war. ASEM Italia Onlus raises funds for the child homes, community schools and vocational training centres run by ASEM in Mozambique.

From 2010, ALTA MANE is promoting, coordinating and financially supporting the exchange programme between Projeto Axè and ASEM Mozambique involving an initial visit by a group of 5 operators from ASEM Mozambique and 1 representative of ASEM Italia to Projeto Axè in Salvador de Bahia in order to compare methods for approaching the social reintegration of street children in different contexts and to incentivise the exchange of artistic experiences.
