The Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné hosts regular expressive art workshops run by two visual artists and art therapists that are open to all: hospitalised children, psychiatric patients, young people living in the neighbourhood, health workers. Participants are able to create freely and the drawing, painting, plastic arts and drama activities also provide a vehicle for addressing the issue of HIV/AIDS.
In 2012 Fondation Alta Mane supported the expressive art and drama workshops addressing HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment with the children.
The foundation, based in Lambaréné, was established in 1974 to continue the medical and humanitarian work of Doctor Albert Schweitzer, contributing to the development of basic and applied research into identified diseases in Africa, and to ensure the proper functioning of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné.[/fusion_tab][/fusion_tabs]
