Do I Have The Right To Tell a Story?

Translation into English and Arabic of a children’s book based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989).

The translation of the book “Do I Have The Right To Tell a Story?” (Anna Mertzani, Apopeira Publications, Athens, 2011) aims to:

strengthen and differentiate the art-education activities developed at the PYXIDA Intercultural Center (Athens, Greece), managed by Greek Council for Refugees;
launch an integrated collaboration with El Sistema Greece based on the creation of operational and implementation synergies;
promote children’s rights within refugee communities;
disseminate the Best Practices in the field of protection and promotion of children’s rights;
raise awareness among children, with or without a migratory background, about their rights and the resulting responsibilities.

Expected Beneficiaries

Approximately 156 minors, with or without a migratory background, who, in 2024, will participate in art-education activities developed inside the PYXIDA Intercultural Center as well as in the different empowerment activities planned in the Young Leaders Programme, an active citizenship program, developed by El Sistema Greece.

In 2023, Greek Council for Refugees (GCR), with the support of Alta Mane, organized the following activities:

translation, into English and Arabic, of the book “Do I Have The Right To Tell a Story?”;
production and printing of 156 copies (Greek, English and Arabic);
cataloging and digitization of the book on the digital educational platform “Thesaurus”.
