The project in summary
Two days of training, round tables, and moments of exchange between national and international associations and professionals, on the legacy of Maestro Abreu from a historical, artistic, socioeconomic, and pedagogical perspective.
The project in detail
The project aimed to:
- encourage the creation of networks, collaborations, and synergies between associations which, at national and international level, are inspired by the methodology of “El Sistema Abreu”;
- investigate the effects that the common methodological approach may have in different territorial contexts characterised by the presence of social and economic vulnerability factors;
- create enrichment opportunities for musicians, teachers, social and cultural professionals participating in the event;
- spread a new awareness on the efficacy of arts as a tool for social inclusion and the dissemination of active citizenship good practices.
Direct Beneficiaries
- 2 professionals from El Sistema Greece;
- 1 teacher from El Sistema Greece.
Indirect Beneficiaries
- 12 institutional representatives and panelists;
- 30 socio-cultural professionals, teachers, and musicians;
- 300 participants.
The Workshop, held in Naples on October 20-21, 2023 and organized by Accademia Europea di Musica e Arti dello Spettacolo (AEMAS), a partner of Fondazione Alta Mane Italia since 2021, foresaw, under the coordination of Dr. Annalisa Spadolini (Ministero dell’istruzione e del Merito), the following activities:
- a Conference on the legacy of Abreu, between past, present, and future, during which Anis Barnat, co-Founder and co-Director, presented in an institutional manner El Sistema Greece,
the reasons and modes of its creation, its educational pillars, its vision and mission in the specific reality of the Greek social environment;
- a Round Table on social orchestras and good practices between Italian and foreign experiences, during which Elisa Sologni, co-Founder and Co-Director, presented the practical work that El Sistema Greece carries out with children in Greece, listing the daily challenges faced by those who carry out educational work in emergency contexts;
- a Musical Training Workshop held by Giannis Ismirnioglou, teacher of El Sistema Greece, intended for the attending teachers, operators and young musicians;
- a Choir Workshop, inspired by the specific techniques of the “Coro delle Mani Bianche” held by Chiara Galli, Founder and Coordinator of Liberamusica, intended for younger students;
- a concert by the Orchestra Sinfonica dei Quartieri Spagnoli.
